Georgia Property Tax Law

Our practice concentrates on Georgia ad valorem, or real property, tax appeals and related matters. We assist taxpayers throughout Georgia in every aspect of the property tax appeal process, from filing returns, exemption applications and appeals, to representing taxpayers before boards of equalization, hearing officers, in arbitration, and in superior court. Our attorneys routinely work with county tax assessors, lawyers and the legislature to draft and amend Georgia's property tax law to benefit the taxpayer. Our in-depth knowledge of Georgia's property tax law enables us to advocate for the best outcome for our clients.

We represent taxpayers throughout Georgia in property tax appeals of all kinds:

  • urban and rural properties;
  • vacant and improved properties;
  • commercial properties, including shopping centers, office buildings, assisted living facilities, and hospices;
  • industrial properties;
  • timberland properties;
  • residential properties, including single family homes and condominiums; and
  • property tax exemption and preferential assessment cases (including Conservation Use Valuation Assessment (CUVA), Forest Land Protection Act (FLPA) covenants, Charitable Institution exemptions, Section 42 Low Income Housing Credits, and Public Property exemptions.

We also handle property tax liens, third party transfers, tax sales and redemptions, and quiet title actions.
